Here is a recording of me doing a new patient examination. 

In this recording, you can see the systematic examination approach that I follow for every single patient.

Prior to this examination step, I have discussed the patient's goals with them and taken a full set of extra-oral photographs, bite wings and OPG or CT scan. I don't chart teeth as the photographs can be used instead.

My dental assistant uses fast note templates to record the examination results. This allows us to complete an examination with all records in under five minutes. Using this process, we can concentrate more on talking with the patient about their goals and concerns.
