Young Dentist of the Year (YDOTY) Competition Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction

These terms and conditions and the entry details govern the Competition.

The Young Dentist of the Year (“YDOTY”) competition ("Competition") is organized by RipeGlobal Pty Ltd (ACN 640 129 148) (“RipeGlobal”). By entering the Competition, you agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions, including all eligibility requirements, entry guidelines, and judging criteria. The purpose of the Competition is to celebrate the clinical excellence, entrepreneurial spirit, and leadership of young dentists globally and to identify future brand ambassadors for RipeGlobal.

Any entry not in compliance with these Terms and Conditions is automatically invalid. RipeGlobal reserves the right to accept or reject non-compliant or incomplete entries in its sole discretion.

2. Competition Objectives and Theme

• Purpose: The competition aims to raise brand awareness and identify potential brand ambassadors by celebrating young dental professionals' passion, skills, and innovation.
• Theme: The theme of the competition is to recognize and celebrate clinical excellence and entrepreneurial spirit among young dentists in their final year of dental school or within five years of graduation.
• Key Areas of Focus:
  • Clinical Skills: Demonstrating proficiency in dental practice.
  • Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Showcasing creativity and a forward-thinking approach to dentistry.
  • Leadership and Personal Development: Growth opportunities through mentorship and career development.

3. Eligibility Criteria

• Target Audience: Open globally to individuals who are in their final year of dental school or have been practicing dentistry for less than five years.
• Entry Restrictions:
  • Participants must be at least 18 years old.
  • Entrants must meet the qualification criteria as per their respective countries’ regulations for practicing dentistry.
  • Only one entry per individual is allowed, although you can submit multiple entries across different stages.

4. How to Enter

• Entry Method: Submit a 90-second video on Instagram (public) where you will:
  • Introduce yourself and share your journey in dentistry—challenges, triumphs, and what motivates you.
  • Highlight your vision for the future of dentistry and your role in it.
  • Showcase your clinical skills and your passion for growth.
  • Engage with the audience and judges via your energy, personality, and clarity in communication.
  • Tag @ripeGlobal and use the hashtag #YDOTY in your Instagram post.
• Video Submission Deadline: 30 June 2025. No late entries will be accepted.

5. Judging Criteria The entries will be evaluated by the judging panel based on the following key criteria:

1. Authenticity: Real, transparent stories that reflect the entrant's journey in dentistry.
2. Engagement: Ability to captivate and communicate with an audience on camera.
3. Vision & Impact: Clear plans for future growth and the impact they aim to have on the profession.
4. Clinical Excellence: A foundational understanding and demonstration of clinical skills.

6. Competition Phases & Timeline

• Phase 1: Initial Submissions
  • Submissions close on 30 June 2025. Entries will be judged, and 12 finalists will be announced 1 week after the closing date.
  • Each of the 12 semi-finalists will receive a 1-year RipeGlobal membership.
• Phase 2: Semi-Finals 
  • Hands-on Challenges: Finalists will receive a state-of-the-art Simulation Kit to complete clinical challenges. They must document their progress on Instagram, tagging RipeGlobal. These Simulation Kits must be returned at the end of the competition
  • Deadline: Finalists must complete all semi-final challenges within 1 month after receiving their Simulation Kits or by the submission date to be communicated closer to the time, whichever comes first. Failure to provide a recording by the submission date, will see the candidate disqualified.
  • Judging: Finalists will be judged on clinical skill, creativity, and content engagement.
  • Announcement of Finalists: The top 4 finalists will be selected and announced one week after the semi-final challenges.
• Phase 3: Finals
  • Final Round: The 4 finalists will compete in 3 rounds of hands-on exercises, with one finalist being eliminated after each round.
  • Documentation: The finalists must document their thoughts and feelings in the leadup to the final round via fun and engaging content posted to Instagram as well as livestream the final round, collaborating with RipeGlobal. The winner will be declared after the final round. RipeGlobal will officially document this final round via group zoom at an appropriate and pre-agreed time for all participants and judges, taking into consideration timezones.
  • Judging: The final round will be judged based on clinical skills, innovation, and overall impact.
  • Winner Declaration: The winner will be announced following the final round.

8. Rights and Ownership

• By entering the competition:
  • you grant RipeGlobal the right to use your video and any content submitted in promotional materials, including but not limited to social media, websites, and advertisements, without further consent or compensation.
  • You consent to the RipeGlobal, without royalty or any fees, using your name, likeness, image, voice, recording and entry in any marketing and promotion of RipeGlobal.
• Unless agreed otherwise in writing by both RipeGlobal and you, any design, drawing, source code, specification or other document (in written or electronic form) prepared or produced by you for the purpose of this Competition shall remain the exclusive property of RipeGlobal.
• You agree to indemnify RipeGlobal in respect to any claim for infringement of any present and future rights conferred by law in or in relation to copyright, trademarks, designs arising or the like, of any item to a specification provided by you.

9. Dispute Resolution 

A complaint about the Competition may be made by emailing marketing@ripeglobal.com.

10. Liability 

1. Subject to clauses 11(2) and 11(3), RipeGlobal is not liable for any loss, cost, expense, damage or liability suffered or incurred by any Entrant in connection with the Competition, including in connection with: 

• late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected entries or Prize acceptance, including delays due to technical disruptions or network congestion;
• any incorrect or inaccurate information caused by equipment or programming associated with or utilised in the Competition;
• any theft, destruction, unauthorised access to or alteration of entries; or
• any use of any Prize or any tax liability incurred by the winner as a result of winning or accepting the Prizes.

1. Nothing under clause 11(1) limits any Entrant’s or Winner’s rights under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) (CCA).
2. These terms and conditions do not exclude or limit the application of any statutory provision, including but not limited to a provision of the CCA and the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, where to do so would contravene that statute or cause any part of these terms and conditions to be void.
3. RipeGlobal will not, under any circumstances, be liable to you, whether directly or indirectly for any third-party claim arising out of the supply of any material or the performance or non-performance of any obligations relating to this Competition and these Terms and Conditions.

11. Indemnity 

• You acknowledge and agree to indemnify RipeGlobal and it’s personnel from and against any and all claims, expenses, losses, damages and costs (including reasonable legal fees incurred on a solicitor/client basis) suffered or incurred by you which arise from a result of or in connection with any injury to or death to any person caused or contributed to by your negligence or wilful misconduct. 

12. Force majeure

• Without limiting clause 9, if the Competition is unable to proceed due to unforeseen circumstances, including cyber-attack, industrial strike, computer virus, fraud, or technical failures, RipeGlobal may take appropriate action with respect to the Competition (including suspension, termination or modification of the Competition) as it deems appropriate, subject to any relevant regulation or law or direction from a regulatory authority.

13. Privacy and personal information

1. RipeGlobal will use and retain for a reasonable period the personal information of the Entrants for the following purposes:

• to communicate with Entrants regarding the Competition;
• to verify that these Terms and Conditions have been complied with;
• for accounting purposes.

1. Each Party agrees to comply with its obligations under the Privacy Act in respect of Personal Information (as defined in the Privacy Policy) obtained by or disclosed to it pursuant to this Competition.

14. Governing law

• These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of Queensland and the Entrants submit to the jurisdiction of the Queensland courts in respect of any proceedings in connection with these terms and conditions.

15. General Terms

• Disqualification: Any entry that violates these Terms and Conditions may result in disqualification.
• Liability: RipeGlobal is not responsible for any technical issues, delays, or loss of submissions.
• Changes: RipeGlobal reserves the right to modify or cancel the competition at any time without notice.
• Privacy: Participants' personal information will be handled in accordance with RipeGlobal’s privacy policy.

• Termination: RipeGlobal may terminate the Competition at any time and for any reason. If RipeGlobal terminates the Competition prior to the Draw dates (referred above), then RipeGlobal will not proceed to conduct the Draw and no Entrant or other person will be eligible to win any Prize under the Competition. 

• Entrants are responsible for any expenses that they incur in relation to participating in or winning the Competition. Entrants will not be reimbursed for any costs they incur in the event of winning the Competition other than as expressly set out in these Terms and Conditions.
