This patient had inflamed gingiva. We ended up prescribing crown lengthening to try and help the gingiva settle down. However, on raising the flap we discovered that the patient had altered passive eruption with enamel subgingiva. Gingiva always gets inflamed over the enamel so we needed to increase the space between the restorative margin and the peri-radicular bone and remove the enamel from the sub marginal root structure.
This video covers a crown lengthening procedure to reduce inflammation by increasing room for biologic width between restorative margins and the bone. We will cover:
- Flap elevation
- Papilla elevation
- Bone removal
- Reshaping roots
