Our diagnostic abilities are only as good as the information we’re able to gather from our patients. Our job as treating clinicians is to gather the clinical and radiographic information we need to establish the diagnosis that allows us to help our patients. Historically, our radiographic examination was limited to two dimensional films. The introduction of CBCT imaging in dentistry brought our diagnostic abilities into 3D. Ultimately, CBCT imaging in endodontics provides clinicians with more accurate information about our patients, accurate information that can inform us in establishing a better diagnosis, and therefore provide them with better care. This module will review the basics of CBCT imaging and interpretation, categorize the limitations of CBCT imaging, and examine the utility of CBCT imaging in the diagnosis of endodontic pathology and in the facilitation of endodontic treatment.
